Emma

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. She relocated to Oxfordshire when she was five and enrolled in the Dragon School. When she was six years old, Emma realized she would like to be an actor and for a number of years she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied the art of acting and dancing. At the age of 10, she had already taken part in a variety of Stagecoach productions and plays. In 1999 casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by agents via the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions, she and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first cinematic appearance was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The film set records on opening day and weekend revenues, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Reviewers have been highly lauding the film as well as the performance of the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her performance. Then Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her performance in the film, winning an award called the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in a Feature Film.
